FREE ENTRY. CROWD is back with another pop-up event in the heart of Croydon town.
And this one is all about the POP as CROWD joins the month long Warhol Croydon celebration of the king of pop art with a night of great sounds inspired by the era and the man himself. (Find out more about Warhol Croydon here)
Packing in Sixties soul, underground sounds and hedonistic Studio 54 vibes, with a headline DJ show from KEVIN ROWLAND (Dexys) served up alongside some of the finest pop up bars and street food traders we can muster, this is set to be one big signing off party for this unique cross-town arts extravaganza.
Leader of the iconic Dexys Midnight Runners, now Dexys after their successful comeback in 2012 after 25 years hiatus, Kevin Rowland’s musical genius has made him a highly respected and in-demand DJ.
Playing for adoring audiences at clubs and festivals across the UK throughout the years, Kevin has also compiled the “Made to Measure" compilation for Motown.
For the past decade, Dexy’s legendary frontman and artistic visionary has developed a different class of DJ set, expressing a deep love of classic anthems and an uncanny ability for uncovering neglected pop gold.
Kevin crafts more than just a straight DJ set, this is a DJ show – taking to the mic and dropping his own unique vocal chops and no-holds-barred emotional attitude that makes Dexy’s live performances so special to create an atmosphere of an intimate gig than a traditional club night.
Rowland is a true artist who keeps his revolution in total forward motion; what was, was – what is, is – and what will be will be, when he decides it to be.
And all of this underpinned by our good friends and masters of mixology mayhem STREET COCKTAILS and their party-righteous sound system crew.
